The Coast Guard was searching for a woman who fell from a cruise ship off the coast of Cuba during a floating festival featuring electronic music stars Diplo and Skrillex.
The woman, who wasn’t identified, fell into the water from the deck of the Norwegian Pearl, a Norwegian Cruise Line ship, about 7 p.m. ET Thursday a little more than 22 nautical miles off Cuba, the Coast Guard said.
The cruise line said in a statement Thursday night that the woman intentionally jumped overboard into the Yucatan Channel.
“Both the ship and charter company teams are providing support to the family and all impacted guests during this difficult time” it said.
The Coast Guard deployed a cutter and a C-130 rescue plane from Clearwater, Florida, to coordinate the search.
