A cruise ship was plunged into darkness and some passengers voluntarily put on life jackets after it lost power and began to list ‘for a short period’ off the coast of Morocco in the middle of the night.
The Boudicca, carrying more than 1,000 holidaymakers and crew, became stranded off Casablanca after a fire broke out inside an engine room at 4 a.m. today and knocked out two of its four main engines.
All but six of the passengers on board the vessel are British. It is on an 18-night Cape Verde and the Canaries cruise, which departed Southampton on 20 January.
