Cruise Ship Passenger Goes Missing Between Victoria, Seattle
by KOMO News
The U.S. Coast Guard has launched a search for a missing cruise ship passenger in the eastern Strait of Juan de Fuca and in Puget Sound.
The male passenger was unaccounted for when the Holland America cruise ship MS Statendam arrived early Monday in Seattle from Victoria, B.C., said Petty Officer Amanda Norcross, spokeswoman for the Coast Guard in Seattle.
Holland America said in a written statement the 64-year-old man was aboard the vessel when it sailed from Victoria on Sunday night, but did not check off the ship as expected after it docked in Seattle on Monday morning.
“They have not been able to locate the passenger,” Norcross told the Peninsula Daily News.
The Coast Guard was notified at 10:55 a.m. Monday and began putting together a search plan, she said. The FBI and the Canadian Coast Guard also have been notified.
